Genesis is turning up the heat on performance EVs with the GV60 Magma, the first full production model from its new Magma sub-brand. Positioned as a direct challenger to AMG, M, and RS, this electrified crossover blends luxury, dramatic styling, and supercar-level acceleration in a compact, all-electric package.
Magma: Genesis’s New Performance Identity
The GV60 Magma is more than a faster trim; it officially launches Genesis’s Magma performance line, a family of high-output models meant to sit alongside German performance divisions. Based on the E-GMP platform shared with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Kia EV6 GT, the Magma version of the GV60 gets bespoke tuning, aero, and chassis upgrades to push it into “luxury high-performance” territory. Genesis chose the youthful, EV-only GV60 as the first Magma production car to send a clear message that its future performance flagships will be electric.

Engage Boost mode and output spikes to about 640–650 hp and up to 790 Nm (around 583 lb-ft), enough to launch the SUV from 0–60 mph in roughly 3.4 seconds and hit 125 mph in 10.9 seconds before topping out at around 164 mph.
Genesis also adds multiple Magma-specific drive modes such as GT, Sprint, Launch Control, and—in some markets—Drift Mode and Virtual Gear Shift for more dynamic response and performance-driven feel.

The Magma’s 84 kWh pack uses the brand’s 800-volt system, enabling extremely fast DC charging under ideal conditions. While official EPA/WLTP range figures have not been released, Genesis confirms that the GV60 Magma’s priority is sustained performance. Enhanced inverters, upgraded rear-motor cooling and improved thermal management push the SUV toward consistent lap capability, not just short bursts of peak acceleration.
Chassis, Brakes and Handling
The GV60 Magma rides lower and may be slightly wider than the standard model. Genesis equips it with larger brakes, retuned suspension, new aero elements and performance-focused tires. Design and Interior: “Athletic Elegance” Turned Up
Signature design details include vivid Magma-orange paint, larger intakes, a deeper splitter, prominent side skirts and an aerodynamic rear diffuser. Inside, the cabin adopts bolstered sport seats, contrasting stitching, Magma branding and dedicated performance menus showing power distribution, temps, lap timing and drive-mode customization. Compared with the minimalist standard GV60, the Magma interior feels far more motorsport-inspired.
Where and When You Can Get One
The GV60 Magma enters production for the 2026 model year, rolling out first in Europe and North America, followed by Australia and other regions. Pricing is unannounced, but analysts expect it to top the regular GV60 range—likely priced against premium rivals such as the BMW iX3 M-lite and AMG-tuned EQE SUV models. Genesis has already confirmed more Magma vehicles are in development, making the GV60 Magma the beginning of a long-term performance strategy.
